Xinhua News Agency, December 2, according to the news of China Basketball Association, after the recommendation of the final review committee and the approval of the Hall of Fame Committee, the number of people recommended to the hall in Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame of China was confirmed (sorted by date of birth) :
male athletes: Mu tizhu, hu Weidong, Liu Yudong, Wang Zhizhi.
Female athletes: Song Xiaobo, Cong Xueyu, Zheng Haixia.
Coaches: Jiang Xingquan and Xu Limin.
It is reported that these 9 characters will be awarded with 15 “special tribute figures” and outstanding collectives-“outstanding contribution award of new China Basketball” (“five and ten heroes”), jointly entered China’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.
“Special tribute characters” are: Zhang Boling, Shu Hong, Dong Shouyi, Song Junfu, Tang Baodi, Mou Zuoyun, Zhang Zipei, Zhang Changlu, Yu bangji, Yang lucky deer, Cheng Shichun, chen Wenbin, Bai Jinshen, Qian Chenghai, Yang Bozhen.
The Chinese Basketball Association said that the construction of China’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is a long-term project that will lead the construction of Chinese basketball culture. In the future, the scope of recommendation will cover athletes, coaches, referees, special contributors, pioneers and collectives.
The recommendation activity consists of three stages: Nomination, recommendation and final review. Those who do not enter the next stage will automatically enter the stage in the next recommendation activity, the corresponding recommendation list of the sequence.
In the 2022 recommendation activity, nearly 600 Chinese basketball players were eligible for recommendation, including 237 male athletes, 316 female athletes and 45 coaches.
In the first two stages, through 100 basketball organizations of “nomination committee”, 500 active athletes, retired athletes, coaches, referees, the media and other representatives of basketball practitioners nominated and elected successively, and finally, 16 people were elected.
In the third stage, the “final review committee” recommended the final review list based on the recommendation list.
The 13 final review committee members are senior people who enjoy high prestige in Chinese basketball field and have been engaged in basketball professional work and management for a long time.
According to the final appeal rules, each recommended person needs to be recommended by at least 2/3 members, and finally 9 people enter the final appeal list.
On December 2, the final list was reviewed and approved by China Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame committee.
The entrance ceremony originally scheduled to be held in early December is reported to be postponed until next year. (Finished)
