FIFA’s “forward plan” new cycle budget exceeds 2 billion dollars

Xinhua News Agency, Geneva, February 15 (reporter Shan Lei) FIFA announced on the 15th that the budget for the new cycle of the “forward plan” is 2.25 billion US dollars (1 US dollar is about 6.85 yuan), an increase of 29% over the previous cycle.

FIFA’s “forward plan” is a cycle every four years. Starting from 2011, it aims to promote the development of global football. The total budget for the 2023-2026 cycle reached 2.25 billion dollars. From the budget of 0.328 billion dollars in the first four years to 2.25 billion in this cycle, FIFA’s investment in the program has increased significantly in each cycle.

Currently, there are 211 member associations in FIFA. During the period from 2019 to 2022, each member association received $6 million in funding from the forward plan. In the next four years, this figure will become 8 million dollars.

“Forward plan 3.0” was officially launched by FIFA president Infantino on January this year. Due to the successful holding of the World Cup in Qatar last year, FIFA’s income increased significantly in 2022, so it has more sufficient funds to help its member associations develop football.
