On the 23rd, the website of China Weightlifting Association released the statement of weightlifting Olympic champion Lü Xiaojun. In the statement, Lü Xiaojun responded to the previous international testing agency’s announcement that its doping test was positive, saying that he had always complied with the regulations, would cooperate with the investigation, and was innocent.

In the 81kg Final of the Tokyo Olympic Games male weightlifting, Chinese players won the championship Lü Xiaojun, among which Snatch, jerk and total scores all broke the Olympic record.

On the 22nd local time, the website of the international testing agency (ITA) announced that the Olympic champion Lü Xiaojun tested positive for an out-of-competition stimulant in October. ITA said that Lü Xiaojun had been informed of the situation and suspended until the matter was resolved. Lü Xiaojun has the right to request analysis of B- bottle samples.

The statement Lü Xiaojun responded to this, saying that “on December 20, 2022, I received an email from the international inspection agency informing me that the sample test result was positive for non-specific substances. I was shocked. As an old athlete, I have been strictly abiding by the regulations of International Weightlifting Federation, World Anti-Doping Agency and China Anti-Doping Agency on anti-doping.”

Lü Xiaojun said: In my 24-year weightlifting career, I have experienced numerous competitions and accepted hundreds of doping tests, and there is no violation. Since I returned in August, 2022, I have received a total of 8 stimulant tests in just 4 months.

Lü Xiaojun said in the statement: “I love weightlifting very much. As a weightlifting athlete, I have won almost all the honors cleanly, I have neither motivation nor reason to use any prohibited substances in the last leg of my beloved weightlifting career. I will cooperate with relevant agencies to conduct an investigation to find out the real cause of the problem and make myself innocent.”

The website of China Weightlifting Association issued a statement on this matter, saying that China Weightlifting Association was deeply shocked by the news that Lü Xiaojun samples were positive for banned substances. For a long time, China Weightlifting Association has pursued the goal of “zero appearance” with the attitude of “zero tolerance” in anti-doping work.

China Weightlifting Association expressed its belief that the international inspection agency and the International Weightlifting Federation would find out the facts and make true verdict. While severely cracking down on the illegal acts of stimulants, they would also protect the legal rights of clean athletes.

On July this year, Lü Xiaojun spent his 38th birthday. At that time, he said that he was fully preparing for the Paris Olympics and striving to win gold in Paris.
