BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) — On December 29, local time, Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, announced that Brazil’s famous athlete and “ball king” Bailey died of multiple organ failure caused by colon cancer at the age of 82. Bailey is named Edson Arantes do nassimento, and the well-known “Bailey” is only his nickname.
Pele was born on October 23, 1940 in Ceros, Brazil. According to foreign media reports, his parents wanted to name him after the famous inventor Thomas Edison, but Edison became Edison because the letter “I” was missing from the birth certificate.
