The couple Hou Yi and Wu Jingyu presented precious souvenirs to the Olympic Museum.

Xinhua News Agency, Lausanne, March 21 (reporter Shan Lei) on the 21st, Wu Jingyu, the Olympic taekwondo champion, and his husband, Hou Yi, a member of the international Coubertin Committee, donated their treasured souvenirs to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland: A copy of the original version of the printed confirmation of the Olympic five-ring logo designed by Mr. Pierre Coubertin, the father of the modern Olympics.

Due to work reasons, Wu Jingyu failed to come to Switzerland to participate in the donation. Hou Yi presented this manuscript to Ms. Yasmin meshtree, deputy director of the Olympic Culture and Heritage Foundation. According to reports, the manuscript was produced by a French engraving and printing company in 1914. The manuscript was marked with the style and size of the five-ring logo, as well as the French name and production time of the International Olympic Committee. The Olympic ring logo was hand-painted design by the founder of the International Olympic Committee, Coubertin in 1913.

On behalf of Wu Jingyu, the two-time Olympic champion and torch bearer of Beijing Winter Olympics, Hou Yi also donated the torch passed on the Great Wall on the eve of the opening of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to the Olympic Museum.

Wu Jingyu expressed through Hou Yi that he hoped to better tell Chinese stories and inherit the cultural heritage of Beijing’s “double Olympics city” through the display of the torch in the future.

Ms. Messeri expressed her gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Hou. She said, “These two collections enrich the Olympic heritage project and tell us stories related to the Olympic Games. For us, the collection, no matter its size, has its rich content.”
